Prom was so lit this season!
From the girls who wore dresses so fly that they made the Met Gala look like a charity case, to the guys who were killing it in all pink everything, it seemed like everyone across social media were excited to the sick prom fashion photos on the Internet.
What sucks about prom season is hearing about the kids who are disciplined for some kind of dress code violation. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes the school is right, because really, who wants to see teenage T & A falling out of dresses and onto the dance floor? I barely want to see adults flash their naughty bits, let alone a child.
But the most ridiculous dress code violation came from a Catholic high school in Pennsylvania who kicked a young lady out of prom for wearing a tuxedo instead of a dress. According to Heavy.com,
Aniya Wolf wasn’t allowed to attend the prom at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg because the school says she wasn’t following the dress code.
“Sadly, I was not admitted into the Prom. I was forced to leave,” Wolf, who is a lesbian, wrote on Facebook Friday after the prom. “The principal threatened she would get the cops. What an experience. Lol they can’t take my pride.”
The principal, Sister Mary Anne Bednar, could not be reached for comment. But the school did post a statement on Facebook.
“Without question, we love, respect and cherish all of our students,” the school said. “The dress code for the prom specified girls must wear formal dresses. It also stated that students who failed to follow the dress code would not be admitted.”
Unfortunately, Aniya was escorted off of the premises by police, which was totally uncalled for. I would think that the police would rather escort a kid out of prom for spiking the punch with cheap liquor, or for engaging in a fist fight, as opposed to wearing a tux. How’s that for love and respect?
From a mom’s standpoint, I’d rather my child go to prom feeling confident and comfortable in what she’s wearing, instead of her looking and feeling like an NFL linebacker in a dress.
Hopefully next year, the school will ask students to wear formal wear, instead of escorting a child off of the premises by police for violating an archaic dress code policy.
What’s even worse is the fact that there are some young ladies who went to prom wearing tuxedos, and slayed everything. Check them out in the gallery below.
